The Maharishi Effect: A Formula for Transformation

I recently heard an interview with Ken Wilber where he said that he didn't believe any major shift could possibly come by 2012.  The reason he gave was because 70% of the world's population was at or below a certain stage of development (in terms of Spiral Dynamics and Ken's own nomenclature that level would be Amber, Blue, Mythic, among other designations) in terms of consciousness, which would basically make that sort of leap impossible.  This got me to thinking and meditating.  This process catalyzed some interesting insights within me, and opened me to a much clearer perspective on this whole issue.  There are certain influences that either Ken is not taking into account, or which he simply considers unimportant.

First and foremost, is the strong feeling by myself and many others that there is an very noticeable, almost palpable, exponential increase in the intensity and acceleration of our general energetic environment as we get closer to whatever this Shift is.  This is having the effect of basically forcing us to awaken and face our dysfunctional patterns and release them, or if we choose not to do this internal "house cleaning," to have to deal with ever-increasing stress and difficulties in our lives (basically a world that seems like it is careening out of control).

The second thing that Ken does not seem to take into account is the fact that we are deeply and intimately connected, (actually interconnected) with everyone (and everything) else as the consciousness that we are; that is the ground of our being.  A very significant second layer to this is our unity as a species.  From this perspective we are all part of the collective consciousness of Humanity, and we are not only affected by it, but also affect it by our every thought and action.

In my meditation, the idea (that I had heard previously) about a particular formula that expressed the minimum number of people that could affect dramatic change, popped into my mind.  The formula stated that if the square root of one percent of any given population meditated, that they could profoundly influence the surrounding population.  As I investigated further, I finally came to the originators of this concept, and the scientists who have been conducting  research worldwide to test it.  Maharishi Mahesh Yogi (who brought Transcendental Meditation to the world) originally came up with 2 formulas for affecting change in the world.  He said that only one percent of any given dispersed population meditating could have a strong effect on the whole.  Very interestingly, he also said that only the square root of one percent of a given population was necessary to effect change if these meditators came together in a group.  Apparently coming together as a group dramatically intensified their overall power of influence on the whole.

For those who are interested in some of the research and references regarding the effects of meditation on regional and global violence and conflict, here are a few useful links:

So, for those who are realizing the immense power and influence of meditation and focused intention on the whole of the collective consciousness of our species, here are the formulas to utilize in your organizational efforts:

1% of any given population (city, region, world) if the meditating group is dispersed.

√1% of any given population (city, region, world) if the meditating group is together.

To effect useful change in the world as a whole, based on a population of 7 billion people (carried forward slightly), we would need to organize 70,000,000 individuals dispersed worldwide, or 8,367 individuals in one place.

This information shows very clearly that our individual efforts do indeed have far more of an effect in the world than most of us would generally imagine.  What can you do with this knowledge?

1.) Start a personal practice of meditating every day, even if only for a short time.  Do this for yourself as well as with the intention to awaken Humanity.

2.) Organize groups of meditators with the focused heart-based visualization and conscious intention to awaken our species.

3.) Use this information as a jumping off point to do more research that you can share with others.  Let as many people as possible know what you have learned.

What glorious possibilities await us...

Happy meditating!

Cleaning House, Releasing "Energetic Hooks," and the Coming Shift

2009 has been a truly phenomenal year for me.  In honesty, it has actually been the most amazing year of my life.  I feel that I have learned and grown so ridiculously much within that time period that it truly has made my cute bald head spin.  I am more fulfilled than I have ever been in my life.  I feel I am expressing more of my true vocations, passions, loves, excitements, and my life's work than at any other time in my life.  Every day my life has become more and more filled with joy, pleasure, bliss, and ecstasy; indeed exquisite to behold.

A significant part of this glorious unfolding has been the integration of several powerful transformative practices into my daily life.  While there have been a great many that I have, and continue to explore and implement in my life, there are certain ones that I feel have made the greatest impact on my day-to-day experience.  These transformative practices are:

1.) Brainwave Entrainment Hemispheric Synchronization Affirmation CDs (that I created myself).

2.) Polarity Therapy (both as a recipient and as a practitioner).

3.) EFT/WHEE (I just discovered WHEE, but find it to be exceedingly promising).

4.) 5 Tibetan Rites (I practice these every morning to begin my day).

5.) Entheogenic Mushroom Journeys (done on a consistent basis over several months as a sacred ritual, using intuitions).

6.) Meditation

Now, one thing I should mention is that the effects of these transformative practices were not usually evident immediately.  Rather, they expressed themselves over time, in both subtle and profound ways.  One experience that was very noticeable (especially with polarity) was that any unfaced emotions, difficulties, dynamics, and the like, would bubble to the surface.  Mind you, although I crave learning and growth, and I tend to dive headlong into challenging situations, this was really not fun.  In fact, for weeks on end, I was in my own living hell, dealing with all the "stuff" that I had hidden inside myself and refused to face.  After this emotional debris was cleared away, however, I felt immensely much more connected and in-tune with my true nature, with a much lighter, more peaceful perspective on things.

The learning and growth that I experienced while practicing these methods caused changes and shifts in my level of consciousness, understanding, and perspective that have remained with me to this day.  In fact, although I just stabilized after once such (quite major) shift in awareness, I feel as if I am on the verge of yet another leap in understanding and awakening.  I can feel it brewing under the surface.

As I've cleared away beliefs and patterns within myself that are not in alignment with my true nature, and come to new levels of understanding and awareness, there are a few interesting things which I've noticed.  One is that as I clear more internally, the rest of what needs to be cleared becomes much easier to perceive.  Also, because I'm now more aware of what does still need to be released, the physical manifestations of those dysfunctional patterns jump up in my life, as if they're saying, "Hey!  Look at me!  Face me NOW!".  While, again, this definitely isn't so fun when it happens, it can be a powerful catalyst for learning and growth if I don't fall into my same old reactions when these patterns are activated.  One fascinating understanding that came to me while going through this process was that if we release our "energetic hooks," then negative emotions, situations, events, disease/illness/sickness, and the like, can no longer attach to us.  They simply slide off us like water off a duck's back.  I noticed this very experience in my own life.  Even if there were perhaps certain limiting beliefs that I still held on some level, when they expressed themselves physically, it was not directly in my own experience, but came to me through someone else's experience.

Intuitively I feel strongly that this process of facing and releasing our internal limiting beliefs, AKA "cleaning house," is very important at this time in our history.  As we move closer to the Great Awakening of our species, it becomes more and more critical that we each individually and collectively deal with our "shit," so to speak.  Doing so will make our transition through this shift much easier than if we don't.  For those who do not do such internal house cleaning, the closer we get to the Shift, the more difficulty they will experience in their lives.  The reason for this is because the energy is intensifying and accelerating immensely the closer we get to this point in our history.  This energy is basically forcing us (we're forcing ourselves, really) to rediscover our true natures within ourselves; to awaken to who and what we truly are, and in so doing is making us face all those internal imposed limitations that keep us in bondage.  If they are not faced and released, however, life will become increasingly more stressful, and difficult, and out of control.  If we do choose to do our internal work now, then life can, and will, become more and more amazing and fulfilling each and every day.  It will simply flow much more easily.  To go through this Shift easily, our energies must be flowing freely.  All blocks must be faced and released.  Period.

The choice, as always, is yours.  You can choose to consciously face your limiting, dysfunctional beliefs, patterns, and perspectives now, or choose not to do so and be forced to do it later, with immensely more difficulties associated with the process.

In any case, prepare yourself for the ride of your life!
